168 R A 田 C A L R E M 引 0 N WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR BOD に 5 WHEN WE FEEL POSITIVE EMOTIONS? Researchers no 、 kno 、 there iS an lmmediate and PO 、 con- nection bet 、 the mind and the bOdy. First, our deep-seated beliefs lead us to feel emotions—such as fear, stress, JOY—that create lnstant bursts ofhormones our brains, and these then tell our bodies what to do. When we feel fear or stress, our hormones tellthe cells in our bodies to either fight or flee. When 、 el jOY or love, our hormones tell our bOdies tO spend time re- pairing broken cells, digesting 応 od , and healing infections. As we learned in chapter 5 , these ハ MO modes are mutually exclusive—our bodies are either fighting/fleeing or healing, not both. SO, in order to turn on the body's healing mode, we must firstturn off the fight- or-flight mode, and one powerful way t0 d0 this is to release sup- pressed emotions from the past. As soon as we are out of fight-or-flight mode, the body naturally begins tO repair cells and heal itself. 、 can turn that healing—much like turning up the volume on a stereo—by pur- posefully trying to feel positive emotions, such as love, JOY, and hap- piness. That'S because positive emotlons are like rocket fuel for the lmmune system.Whenever 、 el the emotlons Of JOY' or hap- piness, the glands in our brains release a surge Of healing hormones intO our bloodstreams, including serotonin, relaxin, oxytocin, dO- pamine, and endorphins. 1 These hormones instantly commumcate with all the cells in our bodies, telling them to do things such as: ・ LO 、 blOOd pressure, heart rate, and cortiSOl (the stress hormone) ・ lmprove b100d circulation

Deepening u 「 Spiritual Connection 243 getic surgery. Matthew explains thatthe spirits who work through John of God apparently use this surgery time to adjust a person s energy field. ThiS iS Why it is no surprise that receiving love from others— SOCial support —turns out tO be one Of the nine key factors Of 1 れ y RadicaI Remissron research. This chapter will explore the impor- tance Of SOCiaI support in depth, focusing on itS three 1 れ aln aspects. We will then dis- cover the healing story of Kathryn, a woman who never could have overcome her advanced liver cancer without the love and support She received 伝 01 れ Others. The chapter concludes with some simple steps you can take [ 0 bring more love and support intO your li .
